A rare occasion to approach clouded apollo so easily. It was just after the rain, hence a bit cooler. So there was no wind and the butterflies were quiet. Excellent conditions!

On the track lied this juvenile esculapian snake. We all overlooked it, exept for Ben who walked behind. This proves how easily snakes can be missed.

We stopped several times in order to save tortoises by setting them aside of the road. This large one was entirely yellow, a rare colour variation.

The spots on the back of the Greek streamfrog (Rana graeca) are mimicking fungi that add to its camouflage. Many streamfrogs show this phenomenon.
