    Many Chubs can be observed from the bridge. From the bridge you can also observe Grayling, Pike, Bullhead, Carp, Minnow, Roach, Brown Trout, Barbel, Perch, Bleak and Common Bream.

    The spectaculair rockformations at Fondry des Chiens, just outside Nismes. Actually it's a doline-like pit that originates from erosion by rainwater.

    This is the chalk grassland that is typical to the Calestienne (which is geologically different from the Ardennae). This is a very nice habitat for many butterflies and many orchids and other rare plant species grow on these open chalky fields. Also habitat to Wall lizard and Smooth snake.

    On hot summerdays there's always a fair chance to see a Purple Emperor (Apatura iris) around the picknick area to look for minerals. Once settled down they can easily be approached.

    In june grasshoppers nymphs are everywhere. This one (probably Omocestus viridulus) has been photographed at Fondry des Chiens.
